About
the show
In search of the ultimate singing
sensation, Viva Television has teamed up with
GMA 7 to produce Search for A Star. The
newest local talent contest that gives an aspiring talent
the chance to win P1,000,000.00, a house and lot of
his/her choice anywhere in the Philippines from Crown
Asia, and a recording contract with Viva
Records in the grand finals. Hosted by Asia's
Songbird, Ms.
Regine Velasquez, the show gives away P50,000.00
on weekly finals and P100,000.00 for the semi-finals.
An episode usually features three contestants picked
from hundreds who auditioned on SM malls. They pass
through three levels of auditions. These auditions are
covered by Search for a Star VJs Sarah
Geronimo, Mark
Bautista, Jason Velasquez, Angeli
Mae Flores, Musica Cristobal and Florie Mae
Lucido. Search for A Star goes to the chosen
contestants and inform them that they qualified for
the weekly contest via a Starmail. The
contestants undergo voice rehersals at Viva Entertainment
Center. They get to pick what they wear on the contest
in a Sari-Sari Store boutique. They are
booked on a hotel the day before the actual contest
and given a makeover at Paradigm Salon.
They also get a chance to perform with Ms. Regine Velasquez
on a special production number along with other contestants.
The semi-finalists are housed in Crown Asia
in Antipolo City for four days before the actual contest.
They are dressed by celebrity designers. During the
semi-finals, Sarah
Geronimo does a production number with the latest
grand finalist.

of the audition from mall opening hours (usually 10am) up
to 12pm. Get an audition form from the venue fill it up and
pass it along with the following requirements:

3 cassette tapes of minus one.
You will be given a number. And will be queued for performance
which will be taped.
After your performance, a letter wil be given to you by our

read the result of your audition on-cam. If you fail to pass
the audition, don't lose hope because you can still try again.
Just ask for the schedule and venue of the next audition.
However, if you pass, you will move on to the second level.

Second Level Audition Guidelines:
The Second Level Auditions are usually held at

your audition tapes.
The audition is usually held with Mr. Arsi Baltazar as the
sole judge. You will be queued according to your number during
the first level audition. After your performance, which will
also be taped, Mr. Arsi Baltazar will give you pointers for
improving your performance. Then, Search for A Star VJs will
interview you on your way to the holding area where you will
wait for the announcement of 3rd level audition finalists.
Again, if you did not pass the second-level audition, you
can try again. Be sure to ask for the next first level audition's
schedule and venue. Third Level Audition is usually done by
reviewing your taped performances. Those who passed will have
to wait for our Search for A Star VJs to surprise them with
the Starmail.
