MTV Asia Awards 2002

Hosted by Mandy Moore and Ronan Keating, the first MTV Asia Awards was held last February 2, 2002 at Singapore. Although it was badly written with corny jokes and unintelligent script, the event was quite successful witholding the absence of some major celebrities like Jacky Chan & Michelle Yeoh.

The Call by the Backstreet Boys garnered the most vote for Favourite Video along with Britney Spears and Ricky Martin for Favourite Female Artist and Favourite Male Artist respectively. Hidden Dragon Crouching Tiger got the nod for Favourite Film and Donatella Versace bagged the Favourite Designer. Linkin Park performed Points of Authority through a taped performance in one of their concerts in the US. They also won the Favourite Breakthrough Artist.
